About Tardy Orthodontics

Tardy Orthodontics has been servicing communities in both North and South Tarrant County for over three decades. We have diagnosed thousands of cases and are now treating the grandkids of our first patients. Our practice continues to grow from personal referrals from friends and families of our patients, but also many dental professionals refer to us. We routinely treat a wide variety of orthodontic dental conditions. We are the “go to” office for referrals from general dentist and other specialists for very complex problems. because of our vast experience and orthodontic results.

Dr. Shelley Tardy

Dr. Shelley Tardy D.D.S., M.S.D.

Dr. Shelley Tardy is a specialist in the profession of orthodontics and facial orthopedics. After obtaining a Bachelor of Chemistry from Texas Tech University, she completed her four years of dental training at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree to practice dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Tardy moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to study the dental specialty of orthodontics. She completed her Residency while earning her Master of Science Degree and Orthodontic Specialty Certificate at Indiana University College of Dentistry. She conducted numerous extensive research projects throughout her education with the primary focus on bone physiology and dental implants. She has presented her award-winning research nationally and internationally. Dr. Tardy is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

She enjoys travel, missionary dentistry, the outdoors and fitness. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has 2 adult children. She enjoys practicing orthodontics with her son, Dr. Calvin Tardy. Dr. Shelley Tardy may be small in stature but has a spunky and lighthearted personality with her patients.

Fun fact:  Dr. Tardy likes to ride dirt bikes and she is an experienced unicyclist.

Dr. Calvin Tardy

Dr. Calvin Tardy D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Calvin Tardy graduated from Martin High School in Arlington and completed his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University in Business-Management Information Systems with a minor in Chemistry. Upon the completion of four years of dental school, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry in San Antonio. Following dental school, Dr. Tardy was selected to stay at the dental school where he completed a three-year post-doctorate program in Orthodontics with a Master of Science degree. His comprehensive orthodontic specialty training along with his computer and technology background are a fantastic addition to the services we provide at Tardy Orthodontics. Dr. Calvin Tardy is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

After growing up around his mother’s Orthodontic practice, Calvin decided to follow in her footsteps. He also enjoys reading, swimming, traveling, computer programming and 3D printing.  He connects well with his patients in a one-on-one setting and has a very calming and professional chairside manner.

Fun Fact: He is a master at Rubik’s Cubes! He once solved an entire Rubik’s Cube blind folded!

Are all Orthodontists Board Certified?
