Mission Work

Through the years, Dr. Shelley Tardy has been active in leadership roles in her church and civic organizations. Dr. Tardy co-founded a non-profit organization that conducted a women’s running event in Arlington every year to raise financial support for Safehaven of Tarrant County. She managed the operations of this event for ten years. Through this effort their committee was able to bring thousands of women together to support this cause. During her time co-leading this organization, they donated over $250,000 to SafeHaven of Tarrant County, which provides resources to female domestic violence victims and their children.

Dr. Shelley Tardy also launched a local chapter of the non-profit, Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, as a way to give back and invest in the future of local underserved children. Smile for a Lifetime Foundation’s mission is to create self-confidence, inspire hope, and change the lives of children in our community through the gift of a smile.

She has not only helped people in her own community, but in both Ethiopia and Guatemala on dental mission trips. She conducted free clinics with other dental professionals in remote villages that lack appropriate dental care.

Both Drs. Tardy appreciate having the opportunity to provide dental care to those in need. They have been involved with Texas Mission of Mercy through the Texas Dental Association. Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) is a mobile dental clinic that travels around the state providing free basic dental care to Texans with limited resources and/or access to care.
